Non-Accessible Content

Non-compliance with the Accessibility Regulations

Images without alt text – some images do not have a text alternative. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content). We plan to add alt text to all images.
PDF documents – some PDF documents published before September 2018 may not be fully accessible. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1. We are working to address older documents as resources permit.
Colour contrast – some text may not meet minimum contrast ratios. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.3 (Contrast). We are reviewing and updating colour choices.

Disproportionate Burden

We have determined that some older scanned PDF documents represent a disproportionate burden to remediate under Regulation 7 of the Accessibility Regulations. This is because the cost and effort to convert all historical scanned documents into accessible formats would be disproportionate to the benefit to users, given the limited resources available to a small parish council.

We will, however, provide accessible alternative formats of any document upon request within 10 working days.
